Internship Coordinator

Following an approach through my personal network I was provided with the opportunity to arrange a China Intern Program for a number of students from a American University. Given the internship counted towards degree course credits the work program needed to be a challenging real world research and analysis assignment. It was also important to introduce the students to the culture of China through a program of language classes, calligraphy, music and sightseeing. The internships proved very successful and I believe provided an appreciation and deeper understanding of the country.

HSBC Business Keynotes

I was pleased to be asked by HSBC Hong Kong to give keynote addresses to invited audiences of MBA students and local business managers. My main topic was to provide a Western perspective on the challenges Chinese businesses face when expanding outside of China and to provide some case study examples of companies utilising successful strategies. Followed up by a lively question and answer sessions of the more general differences between western and Chinese business culture.

Where I Shop - Documentary

A 45 minute documentary on Britain’s changing retail environment after the 2008 global recession. With my colleague Michael Annor we interviewed and filmed a wide range of industry professionals including senior government officials, directors of two of the U.K.‘s largest shopping centre groups and executives from many online & offline retailers. The project required Cold Calling and Networking with CEO’s and Government officials to persuade them to appear on camera as well as acquire filming access and government approvals for information, road closures and more. Quantitative and qualitative research was undertaken including data modelling and analysis with the results detailed in a lengthy report available upon request.
